Chinese New Year 2019 is February 5th. This year, Chinese New Year is celebrated from the New Year’s Eve dinner on February 4th to the beginning of the Lantern Festival on the 19th. Each day there are different activities and celebrations.
Celebrating Chinese New Year is a great excuse to throw a make-your-own wonton party! It’s also a fun time to wear our new pig earrings. Chinese New Year is 16 days of festivities. There are seven lucky foods which include fish, dumplings, spring rolls, rice balls, fruit, rice cakes, and long noodles. It is also good luck to clean your house, pay off debts and not loan money right before the New Year. During the celebration, people give even amounts of money in red envelopes to children and the elderly.
This year is the year of the Pig or Boar. It is the 12th of the twelve years of the Zodiac. If you were born in the year of the Pig, you are blessed with a great personality and good fortune.
